Content of the Physical Activity Program
During the project, we conducted an exercise program with students two days a week. Our first goal in our studies was to perform exercises focusing on easy joint movement exercises that will re-activate our joints which were immobile due to our limited life at home, basic movements suitable for distance education that are not very complex, and isolation movements and strengthening exercises in this process of staying in our homes to ensure social isolation as a society due to the covid-19 pandemic. We then added new movements to our exercises as our body awareness increased along with exercises.
Groups were formed according to the students’ physical level and capability of mobility, and programs were organized according to the needs of the groups.
Exercise videos were sent to students to keep them active on other days of the week as well. In exercise videos, they could see the new movements that we will do in our online lessons beforehand and experience them with their families.
Along with exercise classes, encouraging walking activities were planned.
Chairs, pilates bands, pilates mats and weights or water bottles were used as tools in our classes.
